Subject: Re: [CVMA State Reps] Re: Fwd: Rockers et al
I haven't read all the emails concerning the rockers, but I want to make
it
clear and up front that the Rocker letter was written and approved by
vote of
the NBOD and was unanimous. We put that letter out because some just
don't
want to follow directives from the National and feel they should be
allowed
to do as they damn well please.
This rule has been in effect almost since day one. Yes I know
everyone is
proud of their service as they should be but to allow your pride to put
one
of your brothers in jeopardy is inexcusable.
It is not about being cowards as has been inferred by some. It is
about looking out for each and every member in the CVMA. There is alot
of
talk here and that is starting sound more like screw them we will do
what
we (I) want to do, which is what happened with the PGR in OK and the
Southern cruisers in the DFW area.
I haven't been to just one sit down concerning our patch, I learned
protocol
with boots on the ground. At every sit down, whether it was a single
club or
COC the questions of rockers has been asked and every time it has been
stated by us there are none and by them there won't be. Now if you want
to
break the word we the CVMA has promised you will have then placed every
member, including yourself in a position that can create nation
wide problems.
The rule of no rocker or what appears to be rockers is a national
directive,
put out for the safety of all of the membership and will be enforced.
We
have chapter patches for each and every chapter. We have never allowed
state
patches, we have said there are several patches to choose from denoting
the
conflicts our membership have served in, those patches go on the front
of
the vest as protocol has been dictated to us numerous times. If we say
no patches
what so ever then all patches come off, to include pow/mia, vets helping
vets, etc. We have worked at this long enough and learned the hard way
what is or
is not acceptable in the MC world.
I am not going to question any Combat Vets courage there is absolutely
no
need. They have proven their courage already and I find it insulting to
the
membership as well as to myself that anyone would be arrogant enough to
even suggest they are cowards.
Quite frankly, I see this issue as one more step to change the CVMA to
something other than what it was intended.
At some point, as an officers of the CVMA, you better start thinking
past what might be allowed in your area because it doesn't hold true
across the country. I will not penalize the majority to please a few.
I'd love
to say yes every time someone wants something but I know that's not
reality
and it damn sure isn't in the MC world. But by not enforcing the rules
that
are in place you will cause more of the membership to get angry
wondering
why we aren't consistent with the rules. The "how come they can and we
can't" has come up on more than one occasion.
Sorry if it sounds harsh, but it doesn't seem to be getting through to
some.
